Installing your own above-ground pool isn’t nearly as hard as you might think, and it can even be an enjoyable summer project to do with your family or friends. Just follow these five tips, and you’ll have yourself a beautiful pool in no time!
Location
Above-ground pools are a great way to enjoy the summer without breaking the bank. These pools typically cost less than $400 to install and can be set up in as little as an hour. However, installation is not always easy: there are rules that must be followed in order to avoid safety hazards, leaks, or structural damage. Here are five dos and don’ts for installing an above ground pool:
1) Read all instructions before beginning the installation process.
Planning
1) First, you need to decide on a location for your pool. It needs to be somewhere flat, with enough space for the pool to be installed. It should also have access to an electrical outlet and/or a nearby source of water.
2) You will also need to consider how much time you want the process to take. This is going to depend on the size of your pool, but most pools can be installed within one day.
Tools you need
If you’re going to install an above-ground pool, you’ll need the following tools: a tape measure, socket set, ladder, cinder blocks (or other heavy materials), measuring tape, hole saw (if needed), hacksaw or metal cutting blade. You’ll also need at least one helper.
Filling the pool with water
Since we have the liner in place, it’s time to fill it up with water. If you’re following the steps listed here, you’ll want to fill your pool from the top down. Start by filling the deep end first, then work your way to the shallow end. This will help keep air pockets out of your pool liner.
What comes next?
This is the first in a three-part series on installing an above ground pool. In Part 1, we will cover the dos and don’ts of getting started with your project. Step One: Take Measurements. We recommend measuring from where you want to place your pool to make sure that you have enough room for it. Step Two: Clear the Area for your Pool.
Saving money on your pool
A good way to save money on an above-ground pool is by buying a kit that comes with all the pieces needed to assemble it. These kits usually come with instructions, so assembly will be less time consuming. It is also important to always buy a pool cover to protect your investment from the harsh elements.
Where to buy supplies
You can buy the supplies for an above ground pool installation from a variety of different places. Hardware stores, home improvement stores, or large retailers like Lowe’s or Home Depot may have everything you need. You can also find many of these items on Amazon.
Maintaining your pool safety
One of the most important things you can do to keep your pool safe is to take care of it. Make sure to follow these dos and don’ts when maintaining your pool:
1. Keep chlorine levels appropriate for the size of your pool
2. Test PH levels regularly to make sure they are in the correct range 3. Clean leaves or other debris from the pool surface before they get a chance to break down into harmful substances that could harm people swimming in the water
